Pumpkin Patch

We can't believe Hallowe'en is less than two weeks away. Is it really possible that it was a year ago now that we were last at this pumpkin patch with Kian dressed as both an ear of corn and Tigger? Well, bring it on - we can't wait to do it all over again! This year it's looking like Kian will have a choice of costumes once more ... we'll have to wait and see what the final decision is once he's tried on his options. Last night we walked down to our local pumpkin patch (23rd and Wilshire - ha!) to help us get in the holiday spirit. Here's Kian tearing through the patch:

I tried to get him to hold a little pumpkin - but the stem was prickly! He thought that was a dirty trick....

Luckily, we found another one with a stem that wasn't prickly and he forgave me.

He carried that one all around the patch. Naturally, we adopted it and took it home with us.

We can't vouch for Kian, but us parents had a lot of fun. Hopefully he did, too!

Sharp Dressed Kid

What can we say?

The kid looks good in a tie.

First Skinned Knee

Very sad!
Not even a tear from this kid though....

Choate October Birthday Gathering

After having fun with Ashley and Isla, we headed out to Redlands to spend some time with my Dad and Mary Katherine, and to celebrate Jim, Cherri and Lauren's October birthdays.

Ben brought his electric guitar and amp, and was a good sport about sharing - Kian was in heaven playing with them. Naysan, too.

Kian worked on conquering his fear of The Step leading from the hallway into the living room.

He made it on his own several times - to applause from the crowd!
He also got caught up on some light reading:

Best of all, he soaked up some quality time with his Grandfather!

Kian and "I"

Kian had a special treat this past Friday: his cousin Isla came to visit!

Trying to capture the fun on film was hard, since these two were constantly in motion. They ran, they played, they chased kitty! As a result, almost all the shots I took are blurred, but you can feel the movement that way, so I guess that's cool.

I think Kian really enjoyed having a playmate, and he was mostly very sweet with Isla. When he saw Isla taking a nap on the couch, he came over to look at her and smiled and pointed and told us "baby!". Ashley said that when he met them walking downstairs he came over and very gently touched her hair. He even tried to give her some toys (and tried to take others - oops!). Hopefully they will grow up to be good friends.

Here they are running....

Climbing (Isla is a great climber!) ......and playing with books!

Come back and see us again soon Isla!
